Blyth NUSC Roadshow - 1st June 2009

nusc_logo''Newcastle United Supporters Club took it's roadshow to the Joiners Arms, Blyth on the evening of Monday 1st June 2009. Before a packed audience eager to talk about all things Newcastle United the event compere Bill Corcoran began by introducing NUSC committee members Steve Hastie and Neil Mitchell who explained about recent events at the club and NUSC involvement in the 'Al-together Now Campaign' and subsequent discussions with club officials about raising the atmosphere inside St James' Park. They were followed by Regional Sportswriter of the Year and guest speaker,  the Chronicle's John Gibson. 'Gibbo' captivated the audience with his views on recent events at Newcastle and stories covering his time following Newcastle United, including tales of both Gazza and Bobby Robson. After a short break for scran prepared by mein host there followed a Newcastle United picture quiz, which seems to gain in popularity at each roadshow, and a raffle with the lucky winner receiving a pair of tickets for the forthcoming Masters Tournament.

The night continued with The Mag and True Faith contributor Colin Whittle outlining the history behind the formation of Supporters Direct and the subsequent rise of the Supporters Trust movement, finishing with an update as to the progress of NUSC and it's conversion to Trust status.

John Gibson then took centre stage with an interactive question and answer session with members of the audience with fans quick to put forward their views on the state of the club and the way forward.

A great night was had by all with many members of the audience staying after the evening concluded to debate all things Newcastle United amongst themselves, with members of the NUSC committee and with Gibbo himself.

Thanks to all who attended. Look out for a NUSC roadshow near you over the summer!''
