Blatter paves the way for goalline technologyThe Premier League could feature goalline technology from as early as next season after Sepp Blatter announced that he was in favour of a change in the laws of the game. Providing the IFAB (the game's lawmakers) can be provided with an "accurate and affordable" system, leagues will be able to trial it from 1st July 2012. Premier League chief exec Richard Scudamore is already in favour. |

Police the policeThe policing of fans is a subject which stirs emotions and keeps our inbox busy. And while we’re not afraid to fight for fans’ rights, that doesn’t mean we’re anti-police. Far from it. The FSF believes it’s vital to engage with the police and help both parties understand one another’s views, to find solutions to the problems fans cite. With that in mind the Greater Manchester Police Authority has asked us to circulate the below survey. |

And finally... keeper scores season openerThe Austrian season’s kicked off already and it’s off to an astonishing start with the first goal of the season scored by a keeper. SV Mattersburg v SC Wiener Neustadt was only two minutes old when the away side’s keeper Joerg Siebenhandl lined up an innocuous looking free-kick just outside his own box. One massive punt upfield later and it was nestling in the back of SV Mattersburg’s net. Who says the long ball game doesn’t work? |
