World Cup star joins Manchester United

Now this might not be the most surprising headline you thought you might be reading this pre-season, but when it's pointed out that the World Cup in question isn't run by Fifa, but is instead the Homeless World Cup, then eyebrows will be raised.

The Homeless World Cup is the FSF's nominated charity, bringing together homeless people across the world and helping improve their lives through football. More than 70% of participants experience a positive life change as a result of competing.

Read more about United's new signing's background in the Homeless World Cup, and this year's tournament here.

Coming to a pub near you - The Football Supporter

The newest issue of The Football Supporter is coming to a pub near you, just in time for the start of the season. We've tried our very best to get one for every league ground in the country, and while that's not quite worked out, we've managed to clock up an impressive 90 or so pubs and bars where you'll be able to pick up a FREE copy of The Football Supporter (while stocks last, of course, because these will go like hotcakes).

If you can't find your local or matchday haunt on our list, get them to get in touch with us and we'll see what we can do to get them stocking the next issue in October.

ADVERT: Win a 50" plasma TV with BT Vision

BT are looking for football fans to contribute to their new BT Football website, launching in September. We’re looking for fans from every one of the 92 league clubs to write for the site.  The writers will be put into a monthly prize draw for the opportunity to win an LG 50 inch plasma TV with BT Vision.

As a writer all you would be asked to contribute is around 100 words once a week with an update on the latest news and views from your club. If you’re interested please send your name, email address, mobile number, and which club you support, to Rachael@audacity-group.com. Entries close Sunday 22nd Aug.

Leeds still united in search for justice

The campaign to secure justice for two Leeds United fans murdered before their team’s Uefa Cup semi-final with Galatasary has won the backing of a local MP, more than 10 years on from their deaths.

The victims’ families are appealing to football fans across Britain to back their fight, as the four men found guilty of involvement in the murders of Chris Loftus and Kevin Speight were released on bail pending an appeal which, a full decade on, has yet to be heard. The men remain free to this day.

Find out how you can help the fight for justice here.

Join the FSF on Facebook

Earlier this year we dipped our toes into the water of the world of social media, setting up our very own Facebook page. Back then we couldn't have dreamed of it becoming the global phenonemon that it has. Ok, that might be overstating it a bit, but we've got nearly 7000 followers now, which means we're dead popular.

There's no reason for you not to follow us, either - join in the debate with fans from across the country, comment on what's going on in the world of football and keep your eye out for some regular freebies and competitions, too. All you need to do is go to www.facebook.com/thefsf and click 'like'. Oh, and spread the word to your mates, too.

...and finally

Now we know that women's football has improved dramatically over recent years, but it still occasionally throws up something that we just can't help but laugh at. This absurd handball is the latest.

What exactly was going through the mind of the South Korean defender here we can only guess, but perhaps the lesser known 'netball gene' kicked in as she took leave of her senses?
