With only two days to go before the last match of the season NUSC held its Roadshow at the Last Orders Pub in Felling - a proper Black and White Bar if ever there was one.
A sombre audience were treated to an introductory session where NUSC committee member Steve Hastie updated the audience on NUSC current activity and recent communications with the club. Steve, together with MC Bill Corcoran, outlined NUSC recent attempts to communicate with the club which were now beginning to bear fruit - in particular with regard to the atmosphere at the 'Boro' game, the flags and scarves being provided by the club after discussions with NUSC.
Quickly over to the main event with Radio Newcastle's Mick Lowes and ex-Newcastle United stalwart John Anderson giving their views on the current regime, the players, where they believed Newcastle United would finish the season... and a host of other footballing issues. Ando then captivated the audience with a number of tales from his playing days....stories of Gazza and ex-manager Jim Smith raising the roof with laughter.
After a break where the 5 sets of winners of the football quiz were given tickets to the forthcoming Masters tournament, NUSC committee member Colin Whittle briefed the audience on the history of the Supporters Trust movement and NUSC's recent application for Trust status which had been made on the day prior to the meeting with the assistance of National fans organisation Supporters Direct.
The night was rounded off by a 'rousing' Q and A session between the audience and NUSC committee members about all things Newcastle United which was brought to an end in order to allow the pub to close.
Here's to staying up....hopefully!
