MP Tables Motion To Back Petition

davidclellandMP David Clelland tabled a motion in the House of Commons backing a campaign to keep St James' Park. The motion follows a petition launched by supporters with 16000 backing the petition - 1000 signing up a day on www.nust.org.uk

It has now emerged that the club have 'backtracked' on the idea of renaming the club calling it 'just an idea'. It shows that you just can't believe what comes out of the club'

Neil Mitchell Interim Chair of the Supporters Trust said

'When will this regime ever get it right? They unite the fans against an idea that made no sense, treat the city with disrespect as normal and made no economic sense. Now Derek Llambias says 'it was just an idea'. Coming on the back of the damning Kevin Keegan verdict which revealed the club 'mislead' the fans for PR purposes, it now seems we can't believe a word that emerges from the current regime. 16000 fans who signed the petition have influenced the club for the positive and on Monday we'll be launching a campaign to make the club sit up and take notice the supporters in a positive way'.
