As part of our Local Achievers Initiative NUST rewarded 4 of the Key Fundraisers from the Sophie Atay appeal with tickets to the Newcastle United vs Peterborough match. Takan Atay, David Holland and Peter Holland are pictured here with the NUST's Peter Whitfield.
Pioneering treatment costing £500,000 was needed to give the cancer-stricken youngster hope of fighting-off an aggressive form of cancer, known as stage four neuroblastoma. After her appeal went global, her family received £450,000 in just three days from more than 23,000 generous people who flocked to her online fundraising site. Sophie has reached her cash target and will fly to New York for the treatment.
It was with great pleasure that we were able to give tickets to a group of individuals who have done their part to raise such a fantastic sum. Our organisation have been proud to have been able to help out with the appeal and to see the generosity of those at our roadshows donating cash, prizes and personal items to help little Sophie.
Well done to all the fundraisers concerned and the best wishes of the NUST go out to Sophie and her family as she starts the next stage of her treatment.
